Dark Bloody Mary Shrimp are captivating and colorful creatures! These diminutive shrimp are often likened to standard Red Cherry Shrimp, but with notable differences. Unlike Red Cherry Shrimp, whose red color is only in their shells, Dark Bloody Mary Shrimp have red-colored tissue as well.  There is some debate about their origin: some breeders assert they are simply Cherry Shrimp with red tissue, while others believe true Bloody Mary Shrimp are derived from dwarf Chocolate Shrimp. Another distinguishing feature is their shorter rostrum compared to Cherry Shrimp. With the right care, these freshwater shrimp can live for 1-2 years. They thrive in healthy, freshwater environments and will readily breed under these conditions. It's advisable to keep them separate from other shrimp species to avoid cross-breeding, which often results in brown, less vibrant offspring. Freshwater shrimp are an excellent addition to an aquarium cleanup crew, spending their time grazing on algae and biofilm on plants, glass walls, and other surfaces.
