The Pure Red Line Crystal Shrimp (PRL) was introduced into the US market in early 2014. What distinguishes PRL from normal Crystal Red Shrimp is their purity; PRL have never been crossbred with golden bee shrimp to enhance their coloration. In contrast, it is common practice for crystal shrimp breeders to use golden shrimp to enhance the white coloration in their colonies. PRL were developed through selective breeding over many generations to maintain their pure lineage. The Pure Red Line (PRL) Crystal Shrimp is visually striking, characterized by its vivid red and white coloration. The red areas are intense and rich, contrasting sharply with the pure, opaque white segments. PRL shrimp typically display a variety of intricate patterns, with the red and white sections forming distinct bands or spots across their bodies. Despite their similar appearance, Pure Red Line Shrimp and Crystal Red Shrimp are genetically distinct. Pure Red Line Shrimps exclusively produce purebred crystal red offspring, while Crystal Red Shrimps can produce crystal black, crystal red, or golden bee shrimp. PRLs are renowned for their vibrant colors and are graded based on shell thickness, pattern, shape, and size. Years of selective breeding and culling ensure that PRLs consistently exhibit high grades and breed true to their line. Among experienced shrimp keepers, the Mosura pattern is often considered SSS+ grade, but additional details such as shell transparency are also critical; even a Mosura PRL with a transparent shell may be deemed low grade.

I ordered 10 PRLs and received 12, with one DOA. They came very nicely packaged and picking them up was a breeze! Even though they were stressed, they were still fairly active and looked nice and healthy! Any questions/concerns were answered quickly and were very helpful!

I had one doa when they arrived. I didn’t reach out about this as I feel like shipping isn’t an issue of the seller. This is where I wish we could go after the shipping companies instead.
